A very Happy New Year! A new decade has begun and brought with it exciting news for The Fuzzy Bee…
Over the course of the last year, I have thought long and hard about what I was doing in my day to day life, and whether I was fulfilling my desire for, and my ability to have, a creative life. After suffering several instances of stress-induced bad mental health during the latter part of 2019, I decided that 2020 will be the opportunity for me to really make a go of working towards the life I want. I took a brave leap (more like a dive) into the unknown and decided to make a go of running The Fuzzy Bee full-time (whilst repeating to myself that ‘it’s now or never’ in order to justify the madness).
Another bit of exciting news – I have worked with my designer-extraordinaire sister (okay – she did 95% of the work) to re-design The Fuzzy Bee’s logo, and I am proud to unveil the gorgeous result:
Isn’t it wonderful? If you want to check out more of her work, you can find her on Instagram – @emmac.rhodes.
I’m also moving my business into its own space – I was lucky enough to have been offered a studio space by my Mother, who has moved into a bigger studio to manage her own career as a full-time artist (be sure to click here to visit her website for a visual treat)! See my progress setting up my studio below, and keep your eyes peeled on my Instagram for more updates!
I’ve been busy over the Christmas period wrapping up (no pun intended) my day job and squeezing in making things here and there. I want to share my progress on this stunning Nenufar Shawl from Issue 13 of Crochet Now Magazine. For my version I’m using the ‘Tasty Nom Nom’ Whirl by Schjeepes. The colour gradient is just lovely…
Have you heard of the Instagram ‘Top Nine’? Every year, you can find out which of your Instagram posts performed best over the last year – it’s always fascinating to see what pops up and what has had the most appeal…You can also find out what colours appear most frequently in your Instagram feed over the last year – my results for both are below:
I definitely want to aim to get some brighter colours and more neons into my year of colour by the end of 2020!
All in all, 2019 was a challenging year, it brought with it my 30th birthday, a house move, changes to my family dynamics, new friends, old friends, frustrations that I constantly wanted to put more into The Fuzzy Bee than I was able to, a lot of life lessons and finally a decision to push myself fully out of my comfort zone to see where it takes me – perhaps turning 30 played some part in that…perhaps not!
I am so excited to throw myself into my business and I can’t wait to experience all of the exciting things that 2020 will bring. It will be a huge challenge, and it won’t all be plain sailing, but I am looking forward to seeing where this journey takes me. I invite you to join me as I fully launch The Fuzzy Bee!
I wish you all the happiest, healthiest and most wonderfully yarn-filled year ahead!
