Mini Daffodil Motif – Free Pattern!

Below, you’ll find a free crochet pattern to make a small daffodil motif – perfect for celebrating Spring – you can use motifs as decoration, for handmade cards, and it could even be made into a lovely brooch!

This pattern is written in UK TERMS. See my handy conversion chart for UK / US terms here.

The size of your daffodil will vary based on the kind of yarn you use. For the pictured motif, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat in Lemonade, Gold and Apple Green. The motif is about 6.5 cm tall and 5 cm wide across the flower when made using these yarns and a 1 mm hook.

  1. Sew or glue the the petals in an overlapping ring as pictured (right)
  2. Sew or glue the flower centre in place to cover the overlap.
  3. Sew or glue the top of the stem to the back of the motif.
Tip: Cut an oblong of felt the same shape as your stem and glue it to the back of the stem for extra support and to stop the stem curling. You could also use this to glue a brooch pin in place.
  4. If desired, sparingly use orange / brown eyeshadow powder to darken the centre of the daffodil.
